3) (after you have handed in 1 and 2) Open-book (two-page plus any illustrations) essay on ONE of the following two topics:
3a) What geologically related question would you ask a council member running for re-election in your district and what would you accept as a reasonable answer and policy to be pursued.
3b) A motel owner at Ditch Plains on the south shore of LI is worried that the beachfront is badly eroded and has contracted to have a groin built straight out from the west side of the motel land. As a payed consultant, what can you advise [ ref 1 ref 2 ] about the effect (both good and bad) and what alternatives could be considered.
