The
soybean aphid was first observed in North America in the summer
of 2000. It was first seen in Wisconsin, and then spotted in Illinois,
Indiana and Michigan. Since then, the soybean aphid has moved rapidly
north and west.
Soybean
aphid is believed to be a native of China, but its origin is somewhat
uncertain. It is believed to have reached the U.S. on imported buckthorn
shrubs.
The
soybean aphid is currently found in at least eight counties in Nebraska.
