Since its appearance in Houston, Texas, in 1985, the Asian tiger
mosquito has spread rapidly to as many as 30 states, including Florida,
California, Minnesota, Nebraska, and New Jersey.
The mosquito had spread to Maryland and Delaware by 1987, just 2
years after introduction.
The spread of this species is global: Israel's Environment Ministry
announced on September 19, 2002, that its workers found the mosquitoes
in used tires piled in a field.
